9/4/2010
GP bred, Midnight Martini, won the five-furlong Lethbridge race on September 4 by 3 1/2 lengths. Bred by Terry and Mary Lou Griffin, the five-year-old gelded son of Slewdledo-Late Nite Martini, by Three Martinis, improved his race record to 8-6-3 from 30 starts and has earned $43,391.

LADY GOLIGHTLY (Matty G. / Lady Beverly), bred by Griffin Place and owned by Griffin Place in partnership with trainer Tom Wenzel, won the $50,000 Barbara Shinpoch S. at Emerald Downs by 3 ½ lengths going away. Congratulations thank you to Tom and Melissa! Also congratulations to jockey Pedro Terrero on his first stakes win!

Final Judgement (Northern Afleet / Best Judgement) bred and sold by Griffin Place won an allowance race at Mountaineer Racetrack finishing 1st by 3 lengths. Congratulations to his owner Jeff Stoddard, trainer Jimmy Corrigan and jockey Ricardo Feliciano. Note: Hip # 6 in the WTBOA sale on 9/7/2010, is a ½ sister to this nice colt.

Griffin Place sale graduate, Wheelhouse, won Maiden Optional $30,000 at Emerald Downs. The colt was not entered for a price and beat a nice field. Congratulations to his owner Laura Mertens, trainer Petra Lewin and breeder Coal Creek Farm.

Forener, a Griffin Place sales graduate, won his 2010 debut nicely beating Clear to Canada, Rescue Plan and Koala Beach. Congratulations to his owners Swag Stables and Appassionato Stables, his trainer Van Belvoir and his jockey Gallyn Mitchell.

FORENER REMAINS PERFECT WITH SHARP VICTORY IN 2010 DEBUT

AUBURN, Wash. (April 17, 2010) – Forener lived up to billing Saturday with an impressive victory in his first start as a 3-year-old at Emerald Downs.

With Gallyn Mitchell riding, Forener shook off double stakes winner Koala Beach in upper stretch and edged clear for a 1 ¾-length victory in the $18,0000 allowance feature for 3-year-olds.

Forener ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03 on a fast track and paid $2.80 and $2.40. The Kentucky-bred gelding by Lost Soldier is now 3-for-3 with earnings of $29,700 for trainer Vann Belvoir and owners Swag Stables and Appassionato Stables.

Clear to Canada, Mario Gutierrez riding, rallied from last to finish second, and paid $4.40 for place. Rescue Plan was third and Koala Beach finished fourth and last.

Boundtogetbusy and Saintly I Ain't were scratched earlier in the day.
Breaking from the rail, Forener set a pressured pace from the inside, as Koala Beach and jockey Ricky Frazier pushed the winner through fractions of 22 1/5 and 45 1/5. Forener kicked clear into the lane, drew well clear past mid-strech after five furlongs in 57, and appeared to have something left.

Congratulations to our QH client, Javier Olmos and his family.  His 2YO fillies, ran 1st and 2nd at Portland Meadows today.  Griffin Place foaled both fillies.  Misterious Lady (Mr. Eye Opener x Meared, by Red) won the Trial – race 3 by a neck.  Brimmerlette (Brimmerton x Bonolette (Bono Jazz x Dashillette by First Down Dash) ran second in the Trial –race 2.

Berry Ledo (SLEWDLEDO X ATOYAC) won MSW at Emerald Downs in his second start.  Congratulations to his owners, Sue & Tim Spooner, his trainer, Dan Markle, and to Debbie Hoonan-Trujillo who picked up the mount from Ricky Frazier who was injured the day before.  Berry Ledo was bred and sold by Griffin Place. He is a ½ brother to Turf Paradise Derby winner, KEAGAN, also bred and sold by Griffin Place.  Atoyac has a yearling colt by Matty G. and is in foal to Delineator.
